I wasn’t born in Kiefersfelden. I came here in 1968 through my husband, who was from here. I never left. For me, Kiefersfelden is my nature and a balance to the culture in Munich. My husband and I worked there and I still have our apartment there. We built our house here in Kiefersfelden and so I settled down. My street is my place here. With the neighborhood and their children, who used to play with my grandchildren and often came in and out of my house when they were little. I also like to organize my annual get-together for Advent coffee at Christmas time for the people who live around me and make up my Kiefer.
The village is also a piece of home for my children and grandchildren. This may be because I live here, of course, but perhaps also because they can go to the mountains here. My grandchildren also like to come here with friends and they are always happy when they can show their friends their Kiefer as they know it. For me, Kiefersfelden remains my home for as long as I can manage on my own.
As an original costume, I would need a Lower Franconian costume from the Rhön region. The costume has similarities with the one worn here. The dress for the girls has a red bodice with a dark skirt and a shimmering apron on it and we always wore a little hood on our heads back then. We didn’t have any flowers in the neckline, like here in Kiefersfelden and Upper Bavaria.

My favorite place in Kiefersfelden is actually my garden, which I nurture and care for and in return it gives me something back. The little hill in front of the terrace brings me my wild lettuce, my arugula and all sorts of things that make me happy. On the other side, I also have a separate bed for my vegetables.
