As nice as it is to get to know other places in the world and get to know other cultures, it is even nicer to come home every time, to see the mountains on your doorstep and to have your family and friends close by. In Kiefersfelden, we have a few traditions and my favorite has always been putting up the maypole. Since childhood, it has been a special festival where the whole village comes together and celebrates. I like being here, I’ve spent my whole life here. It is a feeling of security and of having arrived. Growing up in the village has made cohesion and modesty particularly important to me. The same goes for the support of family and friends.

"Growing up here has instilled in me a deep sense of belonging, unity, and gratitude for the support of loved ones."

Skiing has been part of my life since I was little and is a big part of it in the winter months. The connection to the village comes from my memory of when my grandfather used to run the lift on the Mesnerhang and gave out sweets to us children every time we went up the lift. As soon as there was enough snow, we spent our afternoons skiing on the Mesnerhang after school.

My favorite place in Kiefersfelden is my mom’s terrace, as it always feels like coming home to me. As soon as it’s warm, we have breakfast outside or on Sundays the whole family comes together to eat cake. We often have such great conversations that they go on into the evening or into the night.  Even though I’ve already moved out, this place will remain my favorite.
